Member of CASE Advisory Council
Charles Wyplosz holds degrees in Engineering and Statistics from Paris and a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University. He is a Professor of International Economics at the Gratuate Institute of International Studies in Geneva where hi is Director of the International Centre for Money and Banking Studies. He is also Director of the International Macroeconomics Program of CEPR.
An expert in monetary affairs, currency crisis and the international monetary system, Mr. Wyplosz has been Associate Dean for Research and Development at INSEAD and Director of the Ph.D. program in Economics at the Ecole des Hauts Etudes en Science Sociales in Paris. Currently a member of the "Conseil d'Analyse Economique" which reports to the Prime Minister of France, of the French Finance Ministers's "Commission des Comptes de la Nation", of the Group of Indpendent Economic Advisors to the President of the European Commission President, of the Panel of Expersts of the European Parliament's Economic and Monetary Affairs Commission, and of the "Bellagio Group", Mr Wyplosz is also an occasional consultant to the European Commision, the IMF, the World Bank, the United Nations, the Asian Development Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank, and has also acted as advisor the the government of the Russian Federation.
He was a founding Managing Editor of the review Economic Policy. Along with serving on several boards of professional reviews and European research centres, he is a regular columnist in several newspapers and the author of several books and professional articles.
