A Record of Achievement
In the past 17 years CASE has established itself as an unquestionable leader among independent policy research institutes in Poland and across Central and Eastern Europe. Our experts have advised central banks and governments in countries throughout the region and beyond. We have cooperated with the World Bank, the European Commission, OECD, UNDP, IMF, USAID, UK DFID and other international donors and partners in the realization of research and advisory missions that support economic reform and promote economic knowledge. Our areas of interest include macroeconomics, European integration, structural reform, trade and foreign investment, private sector development, labour markets, monetary policy, innovation, social policy, education and health. The CASE porfolio includes nearly 322 completed, mostly international, research projects and advisory missions in thirty-nine countries; 661 publications; 6 large international conferences, and more than 410 in-house seminars and conferences. Projects have been implemented across the European Union, the Balkans, the Former Soviet Union, the Transcaucasus, the Middle East and Central Asia, reflecting the international character of CASE. CASE has established institutional links across Europe. We are a participating institution in the ENEPRI (European Network of Economic Policy Research Institutes) network, in which we collaborate on research projects with leading peer institutions across the EU-27. We are a resource institution within EPIN - Economic Policy Institutes Network - where we focus on transfering our unique body of knowledge to target institutions across the former Soviet Union.
CASE is involved in the development of the NGO sector and the building of civil society in post-communist countries. Since 1993, daughter-organizations modelled upon CASE have been established in Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus. Furthermore, CASE co-founded the Institute of Economic Transformation in Moscow. The mission of these organizations is to conduct research in economics and to participate actively in the transition process in their respective countries of operations, while building bridges between communities of economic researchers across the formerly communist world. CASE supports promising young economists through a special scientific scholarship program which is offered to select research personnel. CASE scholars have received several domestic and international awards, including the most prestigious Polish award in economics - the Award of the Leopold Kronenberg Banking Foundation. CASE is a dynamic and mature organization continuosly developing its activities and meeting new challenges. Having achieved financial stability following several lean years of operations in the aftermath of the fall of communism, CASE is now focused on a promising future. We will put our experience and credibility to work in the economic research and advisory fields while protecting our independence and the non-political nature of our research.
