Credibility of Exchange Rate Policy in Transition Countires

[ October 1999 - January 2001 ]

This research project, financed by Freedom House, was carried out in the period of October 1999 to January 2001 in co-operation with the Bulgarian Centre for Liberal Strategies. Researchers Marek Jarociński and Przemysław Woźniak represented CASE Foundation. Przemyslaw Woźniak was also co-ordinator of the project. Georgy Ganev and Rossitza Lyubenova were research partners from the Centre for Liberal Strategies.

The research tasks concentrated on designing a special measure of credibility and analyzing it in the framework of various exchange rate regimes. The research covered several transition countries. On the 4-10th of April 2000, a meeting of members of the research team was held in Sofia, during which research methodology and the results so far obtained were discussed. A final report was presented at a conference organized on 21st December 2000 in Warsaw and published within the series CASE Reports No. 38.
