| ![]() MICRODYN - Competitiveness in the Knowledge-Based Economy [ October 2006 - October 2010 ]
Description: MICRO-DYN (which stands for 'Micro-Dynamics') is a project which attempts to tackle the issue of growth, employment and competitiveness in the knowledge-based European economy by exploring three interdependent levels of analysis: the enterprise level, the regional level and the industry level. The analysis will use comprehensive data-sets across all European regions and industries as far as possible, and is thus expected to also lead to insights at the macroeconomic level. However, the nature of the analysis will be 'bottom-up' i.e. moving from the micro-entities of economic actions and strategies at the enterprise, industry and regional levels to the macro-level. From a policy-perspective, the rationale for such an approach is that the impact of corporate, regional and industrial strategies and policies at national- and EU-levels can only really be understood in this three-dimensional context.
