Short description: This project aims at identifying the main factors determining households' diversification strategies in rural Poland. Further, earning differentials between rural households with different strategies will be estimated and analyzed. Researchers use "Diagnoza Spoleczna" dataset containing a variety of economic, social and psychological characteristics at the individual and household level. With the help of propensity score matching they trace returns from diversification strategies and try to explain them using regression analysis.
By analyzing returns from diversification the project will fill a gap in the research, which has confined itself to tracing the main barriers that prevent households from adopting new on- or off-farm activities.
