Institute for the Economy in Transition
The Institute for the Economy in Transition is the leading Russian center of research in theoretical and applied economics, strategy for economic development of the country and on making recommendations on specific economic policies.
The unique feature of the Institute's profile is its combination of fundamental research with practical recommendations for the whole range of governmental agencies at the federal, regional and local levels.
The Institute was established in 1990 as an independent non-profit organization.
The founders of the Institute are the Academy of the National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation, CASE - Center for Social and Economic Research and Observatoire Francais Des Conjonctures Economiques (OFCE) (France).
The Institute consists of 10 laboratories incorporated in four principal research departments:
- Macroeconomics Research
- Social and Economic Studies
- Real Sector
- Political Economy
The Institute includes a postgraduate and correspondence departments specializing in "Political Economy" and "Economics and National Economy Management"
The supreme governing body of the Institute is The Scientific Council.
